Derick Zorn

Derick Zorn began his career with the Department in 1996, serving in both general population and maximum-security housing. Over the years, he promoted through the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Warden, taking on a wide range of assignments, including STG housing, mental health housing, receiving and orientation (R&O), internal and external security, visiting, female housing, and Reentry and Rehabilitation (R&R).
In 2025, he was promoted to Deputy Director of Utah Correctional Industries (UCI). Known for his collaborative leadership style and commitment to accountability, Derick fosters a culture of ownership and integrity. He remains focused on supporting staff, strengthening operations, and advancing meaningful programming for those in custody.
Outside of work, Derick enjoys spending time with his wife of 30 years, Suzanne, their two adult children, Brook and Wyatt, and their lively bernedoodle, Huxley. He is an avid fly fisherman who enjoys camping and finds joy and balance in nature.
